Bowie est mort trois jours seulement après la sortie de son album studio 25, «Blackstar».
Le metteur en scène belge Ivo van Hove, qui a travaillé avec David sur la production de "Lazarus" , a dit à DutchNews que Bowie lui avait dit qu'il avait un cancer du foie. "Il l'a dit parce qu'il savait qu'il ne serait pas toujours en mesure d'être en forme", a déclaré Ivo van Hove DutchNews.
