"Take A Long Line" - Orchestral Version In anticipation of the upcoming "Symphony of Angels" concert, The Angels give us just a taste of what to expect with this brand new recording of "Take A Long Line".
This orchestral version of The Angels' hit song was picked up by Triple M radio station last week and the response has simply been phenomenal!

Since the original & most revered Angels line-up reformed in early 2008, they have played over 100 live performances as part of their Reunited, Night Attack, By Request and Live tours as well as numerous festivals & events.
From the outset, the concept of blending The Angels brand of Australian Rock with classically trained musicians has inspired them to create something new and sophisticated. The band is proud to announce the Symphony Of Angels.
With the band originating from Adelaide, there couldn′t be a more appropriate city for this one off event. The Festival Theatre in Adelaide will see the Symphony of Angels become a reality for one night only on Saturday April 17th with the 30 piece Adelaide Art Orchestra.
For John & Rick Brewster this is a dream come true, their father Arthur Brewster Jones was a conductor for the Brewster Jones String Orchestra and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra as well as being the principal cellist from the mid 1940′s to mid 1950′s. In 1949 their grandfather, Hooper Brewster Jones, a concert pianist and composer of over 600 works including symphonies, died tragically backstage at the Adelaide Town Hall after his son Arthur had conducted him in the Symphony Orchestra.
Rob Pippan, one of Adelaide′s most respected musicians will be the event musical director. Rob was the co producer and musical director behind the ASO′s sell out concerts ′ASO Plays Pink Floyd′ in 2006, ′ASO Plays Queen′ in 2007 and co producer of 2005′s ′Zeppelin Flies Again′

Le maire d'Adelaide Michael Harbison va honorer le groupe dans une prestigieuse cérémonie officielle, le vendredi 16 avril à la Salle Queen Adelaide à l'Hôtel de ville d'Adelaide, à la veille de la seance orchestrale. Cet honneur prestigieux sera reçu par le groupe original (Doc Neeson, Chris Bailey, Buzz Bidstrup, John et Rick Brewster) personnellement devant la famille, les amis et les fans. La version classique nouvelle de "Take A Long Line" a reçu une réponse étonnante...

ANGELS frontman and Australian rock icon Doc Neeson has been hospitalised with a brain tumour. All of Neeson's tour commitments have been cancelled while he undergoes immediate intensive radiation and chemotherapy for the next six to seven months.
Neeson, who turned 66 on January 4, was admitted to hospital over the Christmas/New Year period.

Paul Cashmere le 4 Avril 2013 : les amateurs de musique / australiens sont en deuil de la mort du bassiste Chris Bailey, qui est décédé ce matin 4 Avril 4 à 12h30 après une bataille contre le cancer.
John Brewster, guitariste et membre fondateur du groupe avec Chris a émis aujourd'hui la déclaration suivante. "C'est un jour très triste pour nous. Nous avons perdu un grand ami avec Chris Bailey . Nous allons faire un concert à Adélaïde le 17 Avril au Théâtre Thebarton. Tous les gars de Cold Chisel joueront. Jimmy va chanter quelques chansons de The Angels . Mossy et Don Walker vont se lever avec les frères Brewster et The Angels . Ce sera la célébration d'un type merveilleux. Nous sommes évidemment très triste aujourd'hui. Il avait été aux prises avec cette fichue chose pendant les neuf derniers mois et ça a été un chemin difficile pour lui ».
John a aussi confirmé que les travaux avaient commencé sur le prochain album de The Angels et Chris sera pour une grande partie de celui-ci. "Nous avons adoré l'expérience de faire le « Taking It To The Streets 'album et nous avons décidé de revenir en arrière dans le studio », at-il dit. "Nous avons seulement eu quelques idées en vrac pour les chansons et a fini l'enregistrement de 16 chansons. Chris est venu et nous a rejoint pour trois de ces jours et je pense qu'il a joué sur les huit nouvelles chansons. Mon sentiment est qu'il sera probablement sur environ 50% de l'album . Je voudrais recommander au groupe que nous dédions le prochain album à la mémoire de Chris. C'est un gars formidable et un musicien extraordinaire et il va beaucoup nous manquer ».

Triste nouvelle pour ce groupe Australien qui, en dehors de l'Australie, avait pris pour nom Angel City pour ne pas etre confondu avec le groupe Américain ANGEL. Surfant sur la vague Australienne amorcée par AC/DC, le groupe a réussi à s'imposer en Europe avec des albums bien ficelés, et, leur fameux titre Take A Long Line qui leur a permis d'atteindre le sommet des hits. J'ai eu la chance de les voir en Novembre 1980 à l'Hippodrome de Paris en première partie de Cheap Trick. Les pauvres Américains s'étaient fait voler la vedette par les Australiens qui avaient offert, ce soir là, un set magistral, un véritable best of où chaque morceau faisait mouche en plein dans le mille. Un Ange s'en est allé et a pris les escaliers d'ivoire pour grimper au paradis des musiciens. R.I.P. Chris!

Still recovering from Monday's "Rock For Doc" concert at The Enmore Theatre. It was an awesome night for me and I'd like to thank everyone who worked on this concert and who came to it.
Support Act is a music industry organisation which supports artists and their families during their times of hardship, helping out financially and in other ways during times when, usually due to illness, an artist can't work to support his or her family. At times like these Support Act steps in and draws on their musical friends to donate their services and the funds raised at such concerts then go to assist the artist and artist's family through hard times. It is a remarkable brotherhood that I have supported for many years and it shows the strength and caring of the Australian rock music family.
It's difficult to highlight names as an example of the support I've received as there are so many. Thank you to The Angels (Buzz Bidstrupp, Jim Hilbun, James Morley and Bob Spencer), Angry Anderson and Rose Tatoo, Baby Animals, Jimmy Barnes and his band, Suze de Marchi, Diesel, Dragon, Jon English, Noiseworks, Red Phoenix, Don Walker, Mark Gable, Rob Hirst, Jim Moginie - in fact Midnight Oil together again with none other than Senator Peter Garrett! What a blast! Thanks also to Mi-Sex, Stellar, Melinda Schneider, Diva Demolition, Jonesy and Amanda, and The Radiators, who sent me flowers, to name but a few. (Thanks guys, I really do like flowers.)
There were many more who gave their support on the night . There were 68 performers I know of - and I heard on the night that various other musicians just rocked up to The Enmore and joined in.
The supportive response for me has been overwhelming. I really don't know what to say, and I've come close to tears at some of the comments of support I've received. I never thought that one day I would need help so it is to my great surprise that so many people gave so generously of their time and in other ways to come to my aid at this difficult time in my life. For this everyone who has helped has my enduring gratitude.
To Support Act, the many talented musicians and technicians, The Enmore Theatre and their staff and to all of you who have so generously given me such wonderful and generous support, thank you. Monday night was awesome and somebody said to me after coming off stage "Go Rock 'em Doc, there's a lot of love in the room for you tonight." When I hit the stage along with the very talented David Hasselhoff, I knew what they meant.
The atmosphere was electric. I'd like to thank all of you fans and friends who came along with such generosity in your hearts. I hope the fact that you were seeing a snap-shot of some of the greatest of Australia's rock talent gathered under one roof didn't pass you by. Monday's Rock For Doc was to me an historic moment in Australian Rock Music history.
Sadly, I cannot close without honouring the passing of two of our greatest road warriors - firstly Aaron Chugg, manager of The Screaming Jets and tour manager to many international artists touring Australia, who proved to the international acts that Australia not only had high technical competence but we also were armed with compassion and intelligence, who died last month. And Angels' bass player Chris Bailey, who passed away this month. Of course I will miss him, just as I will miss Aaron, and my condolences go Chris's lovely wife Josie and beautiful son Ollie as well as Aaron's family.
The Rock For Doc concert was backed by Support Act and The Angels' management company Spitfire Music, so my heartfelt thanks goes to them, especially David Lowy and David Edwards, and also Clint Braddick and Ben Turner, but without one person - a powerful woman in mostly a man's world - this event might not have happened. I'm speaking of our publicist who rose to the occasion of putting this show together when many thought the logistics too difficult. I want to send a very big thank you to Cat Swinton. If she hadn't taken control of this project and put in all the long hours she did this event might not have gone ahead and we'd all be the poorer for that. It's hard to find words to express my appreciation for all she has done both for me and to get this great concert happening. RIP Doc Neeson
Bernard "Doc" Neeson , le leader de The Angels ( aussi connu comme Angel City et The Angels From Angel City ) , est décédé à l'âge de 67 après un combat contre le cancer du cerveau , rapporte Billboard .
Neeson est décédé paisiblement selon un communiqué publié par son ami et journaliste Catherine Swinton .
" Doc s'est imposé comme unique en son genre , un artiste tout à fait unique », a déclaré le guitariste Rick Brewster . " Sa présence sur scène était inégalée . Il laisse derrière lui une foule de souvenirs. Bons moments , des moments difficiles et le plaisir de créer de la musique intemporelle ensemble. "
Né le 4 Janvier 1947 à Belfast , Irlande du Nord , Neeson a émigré à Adelaide , Australie du Sud , quand il avait 13 ans.
L'album de" 1978 Face To Face a enflammé la carrière du groupe , et a donné des tubes " Take A Long Line " et " Marseille " .
En Mars de cette année, Neeson sort le single "Walking in the Rain " . C'était son premier enregistrement en studio en près de sept ans . La chanson a été enregistré en fin d'année dernière aux Albert Studios .
Neeson a été diagnostiqué avec une tumeur cérébrale agressive en 2012 et aurait passé la période de Noël et du Nouvel An de cette année à l'hôpital avec une radiothérapie intensive et un traitement de chimiothérapie .
Il est décédé paisiblement ce mercredi matin .
" Il a lutté contre une tumeur au cerveau dans les 17 derniers mois et malheureusement perdu son combat ce matin , " lit on sur sa page Facebook officielle . " Il manquera beaucoup à sa famille et sa partenaire Annie Souter qui remercie tout le monde pour le soutien dans cette période sombre . "

44 ans après leur première sortie, The Angels ont sorti leur nouvel EP, Under The Stone. Leur première nouvelle sortie en six ans.
Under The Stone est un classique des Angels, le groupe dont Jimmy Barnes a dit qu'il «a changé la musique australienne pour toujours». Il y a peu de sons plus glorieux dans la musique australienne que l'attaque de guitare torride des frères Brewster.
La chanson-titre «Under The Stone» est venue à Rick Brewster des Angels dans un rêve: «C'était l'un de ces épisodes de" réveil au milieu de la nuit, je dois enregistrer ce riff avant de l'oublier ."
Le batteur Nick Norton assume les fonctions de chant principal sur deux pistes - «Escape» et «Leaders of Men» - et «Heart to Heart» est «un clin d’œil sans honte à Pink Floyd». Avec la voix puissante de Dave Gleeson, c'est une chanson émouvante sur les abus sexuels envers les enfants et les victimes innocentes qui sont laissées pour compte.
"Escape" résonne avec les temps fous dans lesquels nous nous trouvons. "J'ai écrit" Escape "il y a des années, non pas comme une lamentation pandémique mais comme un récit de la lassitude du monde", explique Nick.
Ensuite, il y a la célébration épique de l'histoire du blues et du rock, "Blue Blood", que les Brewster Brothers ont écrit avec l'ancien manager des Guns N 'Roses, Alan Niven. Il n’est pas surprenant que Niven soit fan, Axl Rose ayant déclaré: «L’une des principales raisons pour lesquelles ce groupe [Guns N’ Roses] s’est réuni était une chanson intitulée «Take A Long Line» ».
Under The Stone montre que The Angels reste une force puissante.
