According to Sky News, METALLICA will jam live with French first lady Carla Bruni Sarkozy and Paul McCartney on "Later… with Jools Holland" on BBC television when it starts a new series on September 16.
The late-night show traditionally starts with piano-playing Holland and his guests jamming together.
METALLICA will make its first appearance on the show in 12 years, while McCartney will team up with record producer and bassist Martin "Youth" Glover under the name THE FIREMAN.
Bruni will perform "a song or two from her recently released third album", the BBC said in a statement.

Pictured on the left (click to enlarge) is an image of the "Coffin Box" edition of METALLICA's upcoming Death Magnetic album. As previously reported, the box will include the actual album, an additional disc full of demos, a making-of DVD, an exclusive T-shirt, guitar picks, a flag and a fold-out poster. Plus, the box will come with a collectors credit card embossed with a code you can use to download a special European show happening in September.
Death Magnetic hits the streets worldwide on Friday, September 12th. The album was produced by Rick Rubin (SLAYER, RED HOT CHILI PEPERS) and recorded at Sound City Studios, Shangri La Studios, and the band's very own HQ.

Rolling Stone's Brian Hiatt has posted a review of METALLICA's new album, "Death Magnetic", at this location. He writes, "Half of 'Death Magnetic''s tracks are over seven minutes long, with song structures that are not so much "verse/chorus/verse" as 'long intro/heavy jam/verse/even heavier jam/chorus/bridge/wild solo/outro.' This feels like the right move for an era where Guitar Hero is the new rock radio. And it's not as if Top 40 stations were going to slip in METALLICA between CHRIS BROWN and the JONAS BROTHERS, anyway. These songs rarely feel too long: At their best, they combine the melodic smarts of METALLICA's mature work with the fully armed-and-operational battle power of their early days. 'The End of the Line' is a freight-train rocker with a ricocheting riff and lyrics about a doomed, drug-addicted star. It builds to a frantic guitar duel between Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield, a wah-wah-crazed solo and, finally, a bridge that feels like an entirely new song. And the spectacular 'All Nightmare Long' — a thematic sequel of sorts to 'Enter Sandman' — combines relentless 'Master of Puppets' guitars with a Black Album-worthy chorus."

According to several unconfirmed Internet reports, a French record store allegedly began selling copies of the new METALLICA album "Death Magnetic" earlier today nearly two weeks ahead of the CD's scheduled September 12 worldwide release date. A couple of the fans that were lucky enough to purchase these early copies have posted pictures of what is apparently the album's final packaging.
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich has commented on the premature release of the band's new album, "Death Magnetic", via a French record store. A shop in Paris reportedly sold a number of copies of the CD this morning well ahead of its official September 12 worldwide release date — with illegal "Death Magnetic" MP3 files making their way online by this afternoo
During a guest appearance earlier today on "The Woody Show" on the San Francisco, California radio station Live 105 (KITS 105.3 FM), Ulrich stated about the French leak, "Listen, we're ten days from release. I mean, from here, we're golden. If this thing leaks all over the world today or tomorrow, happy days. Happy days. Trust me. Ten days out and it hasn't quote-unquote fallen off the truck yet? Everybody's happy. It's 2008 and it's part of how it is these days, so it's fine. We're happy." |
