Bobby Kimball announced the following on his MySpace site: "I would like to let everyone know that my new band, named AKA with some of my great friends are working on a CD at the moment, getting ready for a tour of the world. The members are Tony Kaye (original keyboardist from "Yes"), Billy Sherwood (Bass player with "Yes" for over 6 years, and produced 3 Yes CDs), Jimmy Haun (Guitarist on the "Union" CD from "Yes"), and Jay Schellen on drums, also presently the drummer with "Asia". The CD is coming along great, and has so many elements from Toto/Yesand Asia in the music."

Tournée italienne annulée, excuses et la suite, CD, tournée en oct nov :

The CD is coming along great, and has so many elements from Toto/Yes and Circa in the music.
I sincerely apologize about the Italian Tour that was advertised, but didn't happen. I can assure you it was a problem with the Promoter, and not the band. I'll be announcing many dates very soon. We will be in Europe during Oct.-Nov., but our agent is working on dates for us in the USA, South America, The Far East, and hopefully somewhere near anyone who is reading this post. It's a great band, and a lot of fun for all of us. I do hope you'll come out and join us for some familiar and non-familiar music soon. I promise you have a great time listening to this band. My best to you all, and be watching the page for some music clips and new pictures of the band...PS: The "AKA" MySpace page will be up next week with new photos and music from the new CD...coming very soon." |

le point sur melodic aujourd'hui, la date visée pour l'album est octobre, ils seront par ailleurs à l'affiche du rock fest :
AKA is a new band uniting Bobby Kimball (ex-Toto; vocals) and the CIRCA: members, i.e. Billy Sherwood (bass), Tony Kaye (keys), Jimmy Haun (worked on Union, Jonathan Elias, ex-Lodgic, ex-Conspiracy, ex-Air Supply; guitars) and Jay Schellen (GPS, Asia featuring John Payne, ex-Hurricane, ex-Badfinger, ex-Peter Banks; drums). The band is working on a CD and will start a world tour in starting in South America on the 22nd July 2009.
(The touring band will also include Matt Brown (Brian Travis Band, Genesis tribute band Gabble Ratchet, Yes tribute Closer to the Edge) on keys and backing vocals.) Kimball blogged in Apr, "The CD is coming along great, and has so many elements from Toto/Yes and Asia in the music." Asked about the style of music, Sherwood said: “The arrangements are more straight ahead and song oriented, Where Circa: stretches those limits "AKA" remains within the traditional bounds of classic song writing structures. That said it remains very musical. I write all kinds of music so I wouldn't say it's changed my approach to song writing, it's just another extension of it.” The Album is planned for an October release! |
