DEEP PURPLE est au repos jusqu'en Octobre et une nouvelle tournée Européenne ( de nombreuses dates en France ) mais IAN GILLAN ( 61 ans le 19 Août !!)vient d'entamer une série de quelques dates dans des petites salles aux Etats-Unis et au Canada ; les reviews de ces concerts sont excellentes et a noter que parmi les reprises de DP figurent quelques inédits jamais joués en live auparavant comme "Wasted sunsets" ou "Nor responsible"...

Charlie Steffens of KNAC.COM recently conducted an interview with DEEP PURPLE frontman Ian Gillan. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
KNAC.COM: Your relationship with most of your mates from DEEP PURPLE is good, obviously. Do you ever talk to Ritchie Blackmore?
Gillan: No, I don't talk to him at all. That asshole — I will never speak to him again, as far as I'm concerned. I loved Ritchie, though. I used to be his roommate and everything was fine. We all respect Ritchie for what he did — the foundation. But he turned into a weird guy and the day he walked out of the tour was the day the clouds disappeared and the day the sunshine came out and we haven't looked back since. And there are certain personal issues that I have with Ritchie, which means that I will never speak to him again. Nothing I'm going to discuss publicly, but deeply personal stuff. As far as I'm concerned, the divorce came a long time ago. I never want to see or hear of him again. |

UN CD live pour Ian Gillan en solo, c'est pour le 25/02 et c'est un concert qui date de 2006 en californie :
Edel has set a February 25 UK releae date for "Live in Anaheim", a two-CD set from DEEP PURPLE frontman Ian Gillan comprising 20 tracks recorded live at the famous House Of Blues Club in Anaheim, California at the end of 2006. The release sees Gillan present the best of his career as a solo artist (with material from most of his albums), rarities (like "Have Love I'll Travel" he recorded on hard to find solo album by guitarist Michael Lee Jackson) and lots of DEEP PURPLE songs, including the mega classics "Smoke on The Water" and "Into The Fire" alongside tracks that PURPLE rarely played ("When a Blind Man Cries", "Knocking at Your Back Door", "Wasted Sunsets" and "Not Responsible").

Nouvel album solo pour l'infatigable Ian :
According to a posting on the Deep Purple Appreciation Society web site, it looks as if DEEP PURPLE singer Ian Gillan's new solo album, "One Eye On Morocco", is now due out in January 2009. The album sees him reunited with Steve Morris, who worked on the 1998 CD "Dreamcatcher" and earlier projects. This set follows Ian's ambitious "Gillan's Inn" project, which he released to celebrate 40 years in the music business. The CD, which came out in April 2006, spans the four decades of Gillan's professional life and features some of his friends as guest performers, including his mates in DEEP PURPLE, the GOO GOO DOLLS, and singer-guitarist Jeff Healey, among many others.
"Gillan's Inn" was released as a DualDisc, and the DVD side has a track-by-track commentary from Gillan, along with scenes from the recording sessions, rare live footage, and other extras. |
