pour ceux qui ont loupé un épisode, un best of va sortir à l'occasion de la tournée anglaise le 21 avril :
Following their sold-out headline appearance at London's Electric Ballroom in November 2007, Finnish melodic metallers SONATA ARCTICA (led by highly respected frontman/vocalist Tony Kakko) have confirmed a run of dates for April, taking in both Ireland and the UK.
In support of this series of shows, Spinefarm Records UK will release a "best-of" album on April 21; titled "The Collection 1999-2006", it features tracks from the first 10 years of the band's career. This 17-track compilation includes new versions of the SONATA staples "Replica" and "My Land" (both of which originally appeared on the group's 1999 debut, "Ecliptica"), and will be available for a limited time with a bonus DVD comprising live, acoustic and cover material, as well as promo clips and rare live footage.

Keyboardist Henrik "Lance" Klingenberg of the Finnish melodic metal band SONATA ARCTICA has issued the following update:
"Tomorrow is the last show of the European tour. I think we've all been surprised about the great turnout. After all, this was the second headlining tour with this album ('Unia'). Somehow these last days have gone by pretty fast and before we know it we're gonna be in Russia and then that's it... for now.
"I won't go into any extensive comments about the upcoming album, mainly because nobody knows how it will sound at this point, and the few songs I've heard by Tony [Kakko, vocals] can't paint the whole picture. It's gonna be really interesting to work with [new guitarist] Elias [Viljanen] in the studio and I'm sure we'll come up with something great.
"During the two months (December-January) when Tony is writing songs, I'll be playing the keyboards for Elias' new solo album, and in the spring we hopefully can play some shows in Finland." |

qques news, le mixage du prochain album va débuter dans qques semaines, il sera moins compliqué qu'Unia, mais ce ne sera pas un retour au speed pour autant :
Keyboardist Henrik "Lance" Klingenberg of the Finnish melodic metal band SONATA ARCTICA has issued the following update:
"Many... OK, let's not kid ourselves here, but at least some of you wonder how the [new SONATA ARCTICA] album is progressing. So far the drums, bass and rhythm guitars are done. Some weeks ago we had a meeting with the boys and among other things we decided which songs are going to be on the album and in what order. Hell yeah!! So we're right on schedule and....still have a couple of weeks until the mixing starts. Those dear days will be spent on working out the keyboard tracks, Tony's [Kakko] got a bunch of vocals left to do, we're still waiting on some guest 'tracks, etc. All in all we're once again excited as hell about the new stuff and if everything goes well you'll have a new SONATA album in your hands next fall."
Klingenberg previously described the new SONATA ARCTICA material as "a bit darker and maybe not so complex as [2007's] 'Unia'. Nevertheless, it's definitely not a back-to-the-roots album with fast power metal. All the trademark SONATA stuff is on there, solos, lots of singing some slower songs."
Recorded and mixed at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, "Unia" — which was certified gold in Finland for sales in excess of 15,000 copies — landed on the following international album charts: Finland - #1; Japan - #7; Sweden - #27; Germany - #35; Switzerland - #40; Austria - #62. The "Paid in Full" single also secured the #1 single position in the band's native land. |
