Ces californien(e)s en sont à leur deuxième album, et les deux titres de leur métal mélodique progressif m'ont assez vite accroché, la chanteuse a une sacré voix,  l'album s'appelle Seasons of Tragedy, à sortir le 25 janvier, quelques illustres invités : George Lynch (ex-DOKKEN), Manni Schmidt (ex-RAGE, GRAVE DIGGER), Jeff Pilson (ex-DOKKEN, FOREIGNER) and Craig Goldy (DIO)

San Diego, California-based, female-fronted metallers BENEDICTUM have posted another new song, "Steel Rain", taken from the group's sophomore album, "Seasons of Tragedy", on the band's MySpace page.
A video trailer for "Seasons of Tragedy" can be viewed below. Due in Europe on January 25 via Locomotive Records (March 4 in the U.S.), the follow-up to 2006's "Uncreation" will contain 10 original songs plus a cover version of the ACCEPT classic "Balls to the Wall". The digipack edition will also include a cover of RAINBOW's "Catch the Rainbow". Guest musicians on the CD include George Lynch (ex-DOKKEN), Manni Schmidt (ex-RAGE, GRAVE DIGGER), Jeff Pilson (ex-DOKKEN, FOREIGNER) and Craig Goldy (DIO).

"Uncreation" was produced by Jeff Pilson and features guest appearances by Craig Goldy on the nine-minute epic "Valkyrie Rising" and bass legend Jimmy Bain (DIO, RAINBOW, WORLD WAR III) on the band's cover of the BLACK SABBATH classic "The Mob Rules".

J'en remet une couche, avec l'enthousiasme de Jef Pilson, le bassiste de Foreigner, voici ce qu'il en dit :
"And let me tell you how excited I am about the new BENEDICTUM record. This is one of the best metal records I've ever been involved with. It really is that good. I'm SOOOO pleased with the results. The record hits stores in Europe on January 25, America sometime later (either February or March). Once the details are worked out, I'm hoping to have a link through my website for people to buy the record. I really can't imagine a metal fan being unhappy with this one. The band is operating on more cylinders than a fleet of NASCARs!!! Veronica sings her butt off, in that powerful but oh-so-melodic and emotional way. Pete blazes on the guitar (and his writing chops are so advanced on this). New drummer Paul kicks some serious ass — chops but tons of feel — and new bassist Jesse lays it down in a way befitting a world-class bassist in a world-class band! The lyrics are a universe unto themselves, handling some deep but relevant issues, but there's still a fist banging sing-along quality to the record that makes it irresistible! George Lynch even makes a cameo with some truly amazing solos on two songs. If you haven't yet noticed — I'm stoked!!! In fact on one of the songs George plays on (an amazing cover of ACCEPT's 'Balls To The Wall'), I guest on bass. So you might say there's a bit of a Lynch/Pilson feel to it as well. Craig Goldy also came in at the last minute to lay down a phenomenal solo on the European bonus track, 'Catch The Rainbow'. And yes I do mean the old RAINBOW tune. The whole track literally came together — start to mix — in 24 hours. Craig blew us all away — what a powerful vibe these sessions had. His playing was surreal — so much feeling. Also, Manni Schmidt from GRAVE DIGGER does a guitar duel with Pete on the track 'Burn It Out'. All in all, there's something for everybody on this disc, and again, I couldn't be more proud to be involved. My hope is that 2008 will see BENEDICTUM as becoming a common household name in many heavy metal households!!! |

Attention, revoici BENEDICTUM, qui nous balance un power metal puissant et dévastateur, au chant impressionnant Un excellent album pour ce combo californien.
 2005
La chanteuse Veronica Freeman et le guitariste Pete Wells, ex-membres du groupe Malady, forment en 2005 à San Diego en Californie BENEDICTUM. Ils sont rejoints par Blackie Sanchez à la batterie et Chris Morgan au clavier (ayant joué auparavant avec Veronica, dans un groupe « tribute » qui en hommage à DIO l’avait intitulé Evilution. Il réalise une démo trois titres sous le nom de BOUND, rejoint ensuite la basse, le violoncelle et le clavier par le producteur Jeff Pilson lui-même ancien bassiste de Dio et Dokken. Il réalise alors une nouvelle maquette,le groupe endossera désormais le nom de BENEDICTUM .
Le groupe réalise UNCREATION qui sort sur le label Locomotive Records.
L’album comporte 2 reprises de Black Sabbath période Dio « Heaven And Hell » et « The Mob Rules »: on retrouve sur ce dernier titre en guest : Jimmy Bain (ex- Dio, ex-Rainbow) alors que sur le titre VALKYRIE RINSING apparaît Craig Goldy ( ex-Dio) .
Par la suite le groupe est rejoint par Jesse Wright à la basse.
2006/2008
Lors du référendum 2006 des meilleurs groupes, les lecteurs du Rock Hard Reader Magazine (allemand), positionnent BENEDICTUM à la 23ème place, et ceux du magazine ‘’Newcomer of the Year’’ classe le groupe à ma 19ème place tandis que le groupe finit 4ème dans la rubrique Awards Storm Metal (webzine metal Storm).
En 2007, le groupe joue pour la première fois au ‘’Wacken Open Air Festival’’
Dans le courant de l’année 2007, Blackie Sanchez cède sa place à Paul Courtois, à la batterie.
En janvier 2008, BENEDICTUM revient avec SEASONS OF TRAGEDY qui inclut cette fois, une reprise du groupe Accept « Balls To The Wall », ainsi que Catch The Rainbow de Dio
On retrouve également en guest Georges Lynch (ex-dokken), Manni Schmidt (ex-Grave Digger, ex-Rage) Jeff Pilson (ex-Foreigner, ex-Dokken) et une nouvelle fois Craig Goldy (ex-Dio, ex-Giuffria).
BENEDICTUM Seasons of tragedy (Locomotive Records / Underclass)
Le premier titre se mue dans une intro dark/doom amorçant une vibration acoustique, avant de nous foudroyer dans un redoutable power metal, guidé par le chant diabolique de Veronica, qui possède un don d’organe très puissant et ténébreux rappelant celui de Sabrina Classen (Holy Moses). On est à la fois propulsé dans une alternance de sons de guitares très appuyés sur des rythmiques sulfureuses très heavy, parfois speed, entrecoupés par des riffs thrashy fougueux. BENEDICTUM nous livre un second album beaucoup plus power et plus spontané.
