Cherry Red/MVD has set a June 10 release date for the HANOI ROCKS "The Nottingham Tapes". According to a press release, "this performance, filmed on April 23, 1984 at the Palais in Nottingham, England, has since established itself in the annals of rock 'n' roll legend. Here, at last, for the first time on DVD, is that very footage in all its sleazy, gritty glory. As a piece of rock history it is priceless, as a piece of pure rock 'n' roll pleasure it is peerless."
Formed in Helsinki in 1979, HANOI ROCKS drew their influences from American proto punk bands such as THE STOOGES, THE SONICS and most obviously THE NEW YORK DOLLS. But unlike their punk peers they delved into the music that inspired their heroes — Chuck Berry, Little Richard and other rock 'n' roll icons. Add a healthy slice of glam rock to the mix and you had a band that would, in turn become a massive influence on generations of rock bands that followed, most significantly GUNS N' ROSES and MANIC STREET PREACHERS.
For the best part of five years, HANOI ROCKS stormed the world, relocating first to Stockholm then London, and although they never achieved the commercial success they deserved they amassed a huge cult following that still thrives today. So much so that Mike Monroe and Andy McCoy reformed as HANOI ROCKS in 2002 and are still touring.

HANOI ROCKS' performance at the 2008 edition of Finland's Ilosaarirock festival will stream live online tonight (Friday, July 11) via YleX TV at this location. The live stream will be available from 10:15 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. (Finnish time).
The Ilosaarirock festival is being held July 11-13 in Joensuu, the capital of Eastern Finland.
HANOI ROCKS recently announced the addition of Swedish drummer George Atlagic (nicknamed "Jolle" among friends) to the group's ranks. According to the band, "George Atlagic stood out from the five candidates, not only for his talent, but also because of his personality and for being a kindred spirit with the band. Jolle is technically a very skillful drummer and his style is greatly in the vein of the former HANOI ROCKS drummers Gyp Casino and Razzle. He also already looked like he was playing in a successful rock band."
HANOI ROCKS this past spring released a new single, "Teenage Revolution"/"Self Destruction Blues". The single is already a collector's item since it includes the original arrangement of "Self Destruction Blues", previously unreleased in Europe by HANOI ROCKS.
Demolition Records released a special-edition digipack of HANOI ROCKS' new CD "Street Poetry" featuring four bonus tracks: "Trouble Boys", "Fashion" (video), "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (video) and "High School" (video). |

J'accroche moins aux trois derniers albums d'HANOI ROCKS. Pourtant je suis un grand amateur de leur répertoire. Il y a un je ne sais quoi qui ne me plaît plus aujourd'hui, la prod trop actuelle peut-être. Ceci dit, je les ai vu sur scène (euh, c'est un bien grand mot) il y a 2, 3 ans et ça reste une très amusante expérience

Un McCoy égal à lui-même autrement dit rond comme une queue de pelle qui faillit se ramasser en montant sur scène...sauf qu'il n'y a pas de scène tant le club est petit. Un peu plus tard dans le show il s'essaye à un crachat bien dans l'esprit keupon et ne réussit qu'à se le prendre sur la tronche. Pendant ce temps là, MONROE fait de l'exercice suspendue aux éclairages et à la tuyauterie du club. BLOOM assure l'essentiel des guitares looké comme une clone de la photocopieuse KRAVITZ. Un grand moment de rock n'roll assurément pour fêter le retour de ce groupe culte
