The tracks, which were all premiered last night (Thursday, September 4) during the broadcast special "Metallica: The World Premiere Of Death Magnetic", are as follows:

"Metallica: The World Premiere Of Death Magnetic" was hosted by FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins and was broadcast live from METALLICA's headquarters in San Rafael, California. The 60-minute program, which aired on stations across the country, featured James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo giving fans an exclusive look at "Death Magnetic". Check out photos from the event at this location.
Several copies of "Death Magnetic" were sold early at a Paris record store on Tuesday (September 2), which led to the entire album being leaked online within hours.
Due on September 12, "Death Magnetic" will also be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock the same day that the record is released. |

Le batteur, Ulrich, considère que la mise en ligne illégale de l'album "seulement" 10 jours avant est en qque sorte une victoire !
METALLICA's new album, "Death Magnetic", started circulating illegally online last week after a French record store mistakenly began selling copies.
"By 2008 standards, that's a victory," drummer Lars Ulrich told USA Today. "If you'd told me six months ago that our record wouldn't leak until 10 days out, I would have signed up for that. We made a great record, and people seem to be getting off on it way more than anyone expected."
Regarding the band's costly Napster battle in 2000 after an incomplete version of "I Disappear" hit the Internet before its authorized release, Ulrich said, "My fight on a daily basis is getting my kids to finish their vegetables. Technology is moving faster than the legal side. The focus should be on education, on choices and consequences. It's suppressing talent in guys who don't have record deals and don't have money for guitar strings or rent. Our issue was control, not money. We're OK, thank you."
Though their views haven't changed, "we're closer to accepting that once we make the record, and it leaves our hands, we have to let it go," said guitarist James Hetfield.
"Someone's always selfish enough to crush your master plan. Some rabid fans will steal it. Others resent that and don't want to shake the Christmas present. The majority of people who rip it aren't even fans. They do it because they can. It's a personality defect."

en tout cas, en Finlande, c'est un plébiscite, triple platine le 1er jour de vente, 60 000 copis vendues !
METALLICA's "Death Magnetic" has reportedly shipped more than 60,000 copies in Finland so far.
The Finnish platinum award for domestic albums recognizes sales in excess of 30,000 copies, while the same award is given out to foreign artists for shifting 20,000 units of a single album , so "Death Magnetic" is actually nearing triple-platinum status on its first day of release. |

Pffffffff quelle baffe ce disque !
1 ere écoute ( 1 écoute et demi ) : nom de dieu il est excellent de cher excellent !
Je n'aurais pas imaginé un tel retour aux sources aux sons 80's bien Heavy/Thrash .
Je pense qu'ils vont mettre tout le monde d'accord avec ce " Death magnetic " !
Et je suis bien heureux .
Bon je n'ai pas assez de recul mais bordel j'ai vraiment ressentit un mélange de :
" Master " , " Justice " , et " Black " !
Les compos sont bien techniques comme dans les 80's , les riffs bien saccadés typiques .
Bref 1 ere impression tres bonne ! En + ils ont repris leur logo original c'est cool je trouve .
Putain cette année on est vraiment gaté par les " grands " groupes .
Putain le Whitesnake sonne bien 80's , le Motley Crue bien 80's , le Metallica pffff pareil .
Je pense que ce METALLICA ne va pas bouger de ma platine pendant un bon moment ! |

Pouah ! Ca fait depuis minuit que je suis avec le " Death magnetic " en boucle !
Pouahhhhhh c'est le meilleur Metallica depuis le " Black " de 1991 !
( Pour moi il n'y a pas de mauvais disques de METALLICA , mais la ils ont fait tres fort ! ) .
C'est de la pure folie ce disque .  ( Enfin il faut aimer le Thrash metal lol ) . |

In a June 2008 interview with the Artisan News Service, Portnoy stated about his hopes for the new METALLICA CD, "Well, the new direction, who knows? Until the album comes out [referring to 'Death Magnetic'], I have no idea what that direction is. 'St. Anger', which took a beating from a lot of people, personally, I would take that album over 'Load' and 'Reload' any day of the week. You know it had its faults. It had its flaws. The production was weird and the vocal melodies were weird, but at least it had a spirit. At least they were attempting to get heavy again and play long songs again. The formula they used in the '90s with 'Load' and 'Reload', it was just not my cup of tea. It was way too polished, way too bluesy and straight-ahead, so 'St. Anger' to me was a nice step in the better direction, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the next one." |
