LILLIAN AXE Guitarist Steve Blaze: "We Are A Different Breed Of Animal..."

After an extended hiatus that left many fans wondering if they’d ever see the group up and running again, melodic metallists LILLIAN AXE has risen from the ashes and are preparing their first all-new studio album since 1993’s Psychoschizophrenia.

Led by founding guitarist Steve Blaze, Lillian Axe earned the respect of Headbanger’s Ball viewers coast to coast with such releases as 1988’s self-titled debut and 1992’s Poetic Justice – the latter of which saw the band turn a blind eye to the then-burgeoning grunge sound and stick to their stylistic guns.

Now signed to Metro City Records - a division of Screaming Ferret Wreckords and distributed by Fontana/Universal – Lillian Axe plans to issue the as-yet-untitled new platter in 2007.

“After having been signed to four different labels in our history, we learned a lot about what a label should provide and what to look for in a relationship with one,” explains Blaze. “What we wanted now was hard work and a label that understands what Lillian Axe was about and what we were trying to accomplish. We are a different breed of animal and not always easy to put in a nice little package with a bow on top. I met Tim Koukos through my longtime friend and associate Chip Ruggieri whose opinions I greatly value. He said he had found the perfect home for Lillian. Tim immediately was straightforward and told me of his label and plans for the future.”

Screaming Ferret head Koukos shares Blaze’s enthusiasm for the newly aligned union between label and band. “The more I talked to Steve the more I could see were this image of the band that I have in my mind comes from. I don’t think I’ve met a more modest man in this industry yet. Besides being a sophisticated and complex songwriter he has his hand in movies and acting. A true artistic vision with realistic and down to earth morals and values that’s reflected in the music. I swear, every time I hang up the phone with him I say to myself, “What a cool dude…”

The current Lillian Axe lineup includes:
Derrick LeFevre (lead vocals),
Steve Blaze - (lead guitars, vocals),
Sam Poitevent - (guitars, vocals),
Eric Morris - (bass),
Ken Koudelka - (drums).

Le titre sur leur page myspace est pas mal et a sa touche LILLIAN AXE, mais je persiste et signe, LILLIAN AXE sans Ron Taylor et Jon Ster, c'est plus LILLIAN AXE.

LILLIAN AXE has set "A Sad Day On Planet Earth" as the tentative title of its new album. The band will embark on a short tour at the end of September and October to "road-test" some new songs before locking itself up in the studio to create the new CD for an early 2009 release. A full-blown world tour will take place after the new album comes out. Songtitles set to appear on the new CD include "Hibernate", "Kill Me Again" and "Blood Raining Down On Her Wings".

Upcoming LILLIAN AXE shows:

Sep. 26 - Dallas, TX - Firewater
Sep. 27 - New Orleans, LA - Southport Music Hall
Oct. 10 - -Jackson, MS - Fire
Oct. 11 - Shreveport, LA - The Warehouse

On Sunday, August 31, LILLIAN AXE, hit the stage in 100-degree-plus Texas heat to perform for close to 3,000 screaming fans from all over the United States that came out early to see the boys rock hard at the Rock The Bayou festival in Houston. LILLIAN AXE treated the fans to 44 minutes and 57 seconds of pure LILLIAN AXE. Guitarist Steve Blaze, battling the heat, blistered the fans with his interpretation of the national anthem (see video footage below).

LILLIAN AXE's 1999 "Fields Of Yesterday" LP was reissued with two bonus tracks on December 10, 2007 as part of Z Records' 10th anniversary celebrations.

LILLIAN AXE's first new studio LP in nearly fifteen years (and first for the Metro City Records label), "Waters Rising" was released on July 17, 2007.

le concert du 12 décembre en Louisiane sera filmé pour un futur DVD :

New Orleans rockers LILLIAN AXE have issued the following update:

"On December 13, 2008 in New Orleans, Lousiana; at the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Howlin' Wolf Club, LILLIAN AXE will be filming their performance in high definition with seven cameras. It is quite possible that this concert, with all the cool backstage footage and antics with Derrick, Eric, Ken, Sam and Steve along with their great road crew, will be released on DVD and will be included as an added value in their new upcoming CD scheduled to be released in the spring of 2009, as a 'thank you' to all the loving fans that have never stopped supporting LILLIAN AXE and continue to believe in the dream of a lifetime.

"We are asking all the LILLIAN AXE fans to come to our show and be filmed alongside LILLIAN AXE. Purchase your tickets early because this show is going to sell out. C'mon down and see two of the greatest bands to come out of New Orleans, LILLIAN AXE and the legendary ZEBRA.

"The Howlin' Wolf 20th anniversary concert featuring ZEBRA and LILLIAN AXE is being brought to you by Bayou 95.7."

LILLIAN AXE recently begun pre-production in Louisiana on its new album, tentatively titled "Sad Day On Planet Earth". Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Ignite", "Jesus Wept", "A Cold Day In Hell" and "Hibernate". An early 2009 release is expected.
