Le premier album de Hootie And The Blowfish, Craked Rear View date déja de 1994.
Il avait cartonné aux USA et j’avais découvert pour l’occasion un super groupe entre pop et folk avec un chanteur à la voix magistrale, j’ai nommé Darius Rucker. Les opus qui suivirent étaient un peu mous du genou dans l’ensemble et depuis 2005 et la sortie de Looking For Lucky, plus de news. Le groupe semblait s’être séparé car Darius Rucker et Mark Bryan avaient entamé une carrière solo.
En 2019 revoila le groupe reformé et de retour en très grande forme car je pense que ce Imperfect Circle est leur meilleure galette. Tout est positif, il n’y a pas de titres chiants, c’est gai, hyper mélodique et franchement je me suis régalé avec des morceaux comme New Year’s Day, Miss California, Hold On ou Lonely At Saturday Night. Darius Rucker chante toujours aussi bien et donne un cachet particulier à ce groupe. 13 morceaux de haute qualité pour un album qui aurait dû figurer dan mon Top 2019. Alors certes ce n’est pas de l'AOR ni même de la Westcoast mais putain que c’est bien pour ceux qui aiment le rock Us un brin roots à la John Mellencamp ou Springsteen voire The Hooters.
C’est d’autant appréciable que ce genre de musique est passée de mode. Ça fait du bien d’en entendre et surtout d’ en réentendre de la bonne !!!
