Very happy to meet you, Ivan l!!!

Because I am very very enthusiastic to ask you questions about your album, it rocks and give positive feelings to hard rock music, this is my opinion. Many thanks for your answers and my congratulations to the band!!!

     1. Can you give us a glimpse about the band and their    musicians?

Ivan: Thanks for your kind words! Yes, we're Pretty Wild, a swedish melodic hardrock act that hails from Stockholm, Malmoe and Lund. We've been around since late 2006, released our first record “All The Way” in 2008 and just released our second album self-titled Pretty Wild. The line up is me Ivan HÖGLUND on vocals, Axl LUDWIG on shredding guitars, Kim CHEVELLE is slapping the bass and Johnny BENSON brings the thunder, ha ha. What else is there to say, we play kinda party rock with 80's influences, catchy songs with big choruses mainly.

2.  What was your reaction after the release of All The Way with this first place at the Swedish billboard?

Ivan: We couldn't really believe it first it was awesome. I remember thinking who are all those people buying our record, and how do they know about us? Because we didn't have a big label or a commercial campaign to back us up or anything, it was just us out there doing clubgiggs and trying to promote ourselves the best we could.

  3.  Can you tell us your process of composing these so great tracks that compose       your album?

Ivan: Well the songs for this album have been written over quite some time so it's different between songs. Some songs I wrote at the time we were recording “All The Way” and some during the recording of the new one. But generally I just search for a feeling of some kind, I seldome tailor it for what I feel that we need, it's more of what I need to express or think sounds cool at the moment. It usually starts of with a chorus line or a hook that sounds cool, sometimes a guitar riff but not that often, and then I jam it out from there on guitar or piano. But that of course is in the initial writing, after that when a song gets picked there's a lot of work at getting it album ready.

       4.  How can you characterize your music, because you are always in fun, in rock with a bit of glam, and I suppose your influences are coming for the 80’s?

Ivan: I usually say that we play melodic hardrock. I can't pin down a genre in specific, but maybe that’s not for me to say but the listener. But I think this album cover several subgenres so maybe that’s my problem. Anyhow, to describe music in words will always be vague, you need to hear it to discuss it I think. But yes a lot of our inspiration comes from the 80's and early 90's sound wise but also from more modern artists. Some songs more then others.

5.  What are your favourite bands, favourite musicians and favourite singers?

Ivan: I sort of dive into bands or artists for some time, soak up what I can and then move on hehe. I don't have any favourites that I listen to all the time. But to name a few thats been with me longer I guess it would be QUEEN, WHITESNAKE, IRON MAIDEN, STEELHEART, FIREHOUSE and SYMPHONY X. Favourite singers, the ones mentioned above. And of course I've listened a lot to the big names of the 80's and early 90's and there's a lot of awesome music.

       6. Have a plan for touring to promote Pretty Wild album?

Ivan: Yeah we're booking shows around europe at the moment. We wanna get out as much as possible. Right now we got some shows in Germany, Switzerland and Italy but more is on the way and we're also looking at doing a longer tour across Europe. There's a lot of ground to be covered and many places we haven't been so we're hoping to visit some countries we haven't been to.

     7. Are you satisfied with the work done on the new album and tell me what your  preferred song is?

Ivan: Yes Im very satisfied. Always aim to do better of course, and there are things you might have done different in retrospective, but overall I think we did a great album. My personal favourites are “Are you ready”, “All I Want” and “High Enough” maybe, don't know really, my favourites have changed and might change again, hehe.

     8. I notice with the promotional photos that you are very young but so skill to  music that it’s wonderful, how do you explain your involvement to this type of music?

Ivan: It's just the music we love to play and write. I haven't always done this kind of music, I used to be in a progressive metal band a few years back, as did Axl, not in the same band though. But what I love about this kind of music is that you can write catchy songs that really get you in a party mode and I've always liked the high pitch vocals and guitar virtuosos. I think you can cover most ground within metal and other music styles with it, even though a lot of critics say it's a limited genre I don't see it like that. And unlike other kinds of metal this isn't dead serious, it's about having fun but at the same time it is technically demanding to keep it interesting as a musician.

      9. What are your projects after the release of the new album? Are you already  thinking and perhaps working on the following?

Ivan: Yes the next album is in our minds and we have a lot of songs already. We haven't started planning when we would record it or anything. For now we'll just write a shitload of songs and when it's time we'll hopefully have material for an even more awesome album than this one.

10.  How can you feel the contact with Germusica, is it good for you?

Ivan: Yeah it's been great, they make sure we come in contact with people like you and help people to get to know us.

11.  What do you think about your music impact in Sweden and in the world? What are your ambitions?

Ivan: Well we've only just begun but I think we've done all right so far. A few years back I thought that if I ever got to play at the roxy theatre or the whisky a go go I could retire happy, well we've done that and a lot more since. Our ambitions are to do this full time and ultimately do arena shows. We aim high, as you have to do, it's a tough business and we're not in the most commercial of genres so it's gonna be hard but we'll keep on truckin'.
