Ils rééditent de sacrés perles :love: Par contre les bonus sont des fois assez "limites". En tout cas pour le premier album de 1994 (avec un excellente chanteuse) les bonus sont des titres lives inaudibles. C'est dommage...

Grand Prix 'S/T' - "During The Late 1970's and early 1980's the British hard rock scene was exploding with new groups. Dubbed the NWOBHM, it was a movement that sent the genre back to basics, feeding off the punk do-it-yourself ethics. Groups such as Iron Maiden, Samson and Saxon reaped big rewards but, beneath the top layers of success, a number of other highly-talented rock bands were also looking to make an impact. Grand Prix were one such act. Signed to RCA records, the band were launched to solid critical acclaim, but their music was quickly identified as being far too sophisticated to truly align them to the NWOBHM. Like Praying Mantis, White Spirit, Tobruk and Shy, the band's penchant for polish, melody and complex arrangements meant that they were quickly sidelined by many in favour of the more in-your-face attributes of the competition. With a sound steeped in American radio rock, comparisons were immediately made to Styx, Kansas, Saga and Journey. However, Grand Prix were, it must be said, practically the only British band of the era that could hold a candle to the serious melodic sensibilities of their American cousins. Part of the reason for this was the appointment of vocalist Bernie Shaw, a Canadian citizen who had moved to the UK in search of new opportunities."

Teaze 'One Night Stands' - "During The 1970's and 1980's the Canadian rock scene was bursting with home grown hard rock talent. BTO, Rush, Triumph, and April Wine may have led the charge but there were a dozens of lesser known acts clambering for attention. The scene, dubbed Maple Leaf Mayhem incorporated magnificent masters of their craft such as Max Webster, Mahogany Rush, Moxy, Trooper and…Teaze. Mad, bad and dangerous to know, the boys in Teaze packed their punches, coming out swinging as though their life depended on every riff. Compared, by those who know about such things, to leading lights of the era, including Kiss, Aerosmith, Angel and Cheap Trick, the band made an immediate impact in, of all places, Japan where their explosive riffs, poptastic hooks, colourful glad rags and no holds barred on-stage energy immediately elevated them to stardom. Buoyed by this success, the band continued to consolidate their Canadian presence before scoring a much coveted Stateside deal with Capitol Records. For many, 'One Night Stands' is the highlight of Teaze's career; a savage take no prisoners collection of tough-guy hard rock produced to maximum effect by April Wine main-man Myles Goodwin and loaded with prime time guitar anthems such as 'Back In Action', 'Red Hot Ready' and the classic 'Boys Night Out'. It is regarded as one of the most impressive hard rock records of the era."

Export 'Contraband' CANDY073 / Anomalies are two a penny in rock music but none are more puzzling than the facts behind Export's 1984 debut album 'Contraband'. Released exclusively in the US, on the hugely powerful Epic record label, it came as something as a surprise to find out that this was in fact the work of an obscure British four piece rock band from Liverpool, a group who had barely made an impact locally let alone internationally.
Scratch beneath the surface and you'll find some intriguing detail. They were formed by guitarist/song writer Steve Morris and featured vocalist Harry Shaw, previously a member of highly touted early seventies rockers Hard Stuff, and were championed by - and signed to - Deep Purple's boutique label Purple Records. Following the release of a now highly collectable independently released album, Export were spotted and championed by sixties chart topper Dave Dee, who honed and shaped them in the form of tough yet melodic UK hard rock success stories such as Foreigner and Bad Company. Early demos were cut with none other than future Yes guitarist Trevor Rabin.
Amazingly, the band's strident brand of melodic hard rock caught the ear of Epic Records in New York, resulting in the first of two albums for the label. 'Contraband' showcases a superb collection of sophisticated melodic hard rock from the hands of gifted song writers and first rate players.
24-bit remastering from original source tapes, 4,000 word essay about the making of the album and a new interview and full band involvement. Additional photos and memorabilia spread out over a 12 page full colour booklet.

Export 'Living In The Fear Of The Private Eye' CANDY074 / Export defied all expectations by signing to the hugely influential US based Epic Records, whilst remaining virtually unknown in not only their home town but also throughout the entire UK. Not that the deal was undeserved; far from it. Their brand of melodic yet riff-driven hard rock found the band being lauded alongside similar, and huge selling, practitioners of the art such as Foreigner, Journey and Survivor. 'Living In The Fear Of The Private Eye', originally released in 1985, was the bands second album for the Epic label. Boasting cool song writing co-credits (including master of the art Bob Halligan Jnr.), and recorded in Philadelphia by seasoned producer Lance Quinn (Bon Jovi, Lita Ford), it presses all the right buttons on the catchy-yet-rugged melodic rock seismograph. The music is loud yet completely accessible and chock full of catchy hooks and expressive vocals courtesy of seasoned vocalist Harry Shaw.
Despite Export's valiant efforts, Epic Records dropped the ball, allowing this exceptional slice of tough-guy AOR to fall flat on its face in a market that was, actually voracious for product. Truly, this is one album that should never have been allowed to slip between the cracks. Fortunately guitarist Steve Morris would continue the good fight by going on – by way of a high profile collaboration with Ian Gillan - to form underground AOR favourites Heartland and Shadowman.

Bien sur, il n'y a pas les livrets comme sur une réédition CD normale, mais en même temps j'ai presque tout ces albums en LP, et même certains en CD. Bel objet en tout cas :smile:

je ne suis pas un grand connaisseur du groupe kansas
mais le faite d'avoir 10 albums réunis dans un meme coffret
donne déjà un bel apperçu de la carrière d'un groupe

La majorité j'ai écrit, bien entendu que Kansas et Angel City, voir Survivor ne sont pas dans cette majorité.
Par contre le reste, années 70's ou pas, je confirme, je comprends qu'ils soient resté dans l'anonymat le presque plus complet vu leur zique à deux balles :laugh:

:laugh: tu t'enfonces, j'ai pris les 2 plus connus, mais toujours sur cette page, tu as un Stan Bush qui est une sommité, et tu as un MONTROSE qui est l'un des inventeurs du hard rock avec un album mythique, un classique du hard, avec le regretté Ronnie Montrose, et Mr Sammy Hagar, qui a aussi joué sur de la zique à 2 balles avec VAN HALEN ou plus récemment CHICKENFOOT ! :eek: A mon avis, si John Markus passe dans le coin, il va te tirer les oreilles ! :laugh: Tu devrais lui demander des cours de ratrapage ! :laugh:

Salut les gars. Avec votre permission, je viens mettre mon grain de sel dans votre conversation. Concernant Kansas, ce n'était pas un groupe que j'écoutais tous les jours, mais, ils avaient le mérite de sortir des disques relativement bien soignés, un peu genre premier de la classe. Remontons au début des Séventies. Moi, j'avais les cheveux longs, je portais des Jean's rapiécés, des clarks, une veste de treillis barbouillée de sigles de la paix, bref, j'étais beaucoup moins classe que les minets qui écoutaient C.Jérome, Cloclo et autre Frédéric François dans les émissions de Guy Lux à la TV. Dans ma bonne ville de Pau en 1971, y'avait pas grand chose à faire, à part du Rugby, de la rando en Montagne ou du Canoé sur le Gave. Heureusement, il y avait un monde parallèle. Tard le soir à la radio grace à Michel Lancelot sur Europe1, Jean Bernard Hebey sur RTL ou dans le Pop Club de France Inter, nous découvrons ce monde ignoré des grands médias télévisuels. Les Doors, les Stones, Hendrix, Free, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, les Who, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, les Stooges, Status Quo, pour ne citer que ceux là, enchantent nos oreilles d'adolescents. Dans la journée, je fonçais chez Philips, le seul magasin de disques avec un disquaire compétent qui nous faisait écouter ce que nous demandions. Tu l'auras deviné cher DKP, je suis un dinosaure des Séventies et moi je ne peux pas oublier tous ces albums devenus cultes meme les groupes moins connus comme Hardstuff ou Sir Lord Baltimore. Concernant Ronnie Montrose, Métal Den, exagère un peu, ce n'est pas lui qui a inventé le Hard Rock, mais plutot le trio Anglais Page, Beck, Clapton avec les Yardbirds. Ce qui est certain, c'est que le premier album de Montrose, sorti en 1973, est un disque culte, indispensable à toute bonne discothèque qui se respecte. J'aimerais, d'ailleurs, cher DKP, que tu passes, de temps en temps des titres de cette époque. Ce serait bien que ta radio reflète aussi toutes les tendances Rock de notre Webzine. Et que tu le veuilles ou non, il y a un vrai revival du Hard Rock Old School et j'en ai chroniqué pas mal, en presque trois ans de bons et loyaux services avec R.M. Pour seul exemple, je ne citerais que Black Country Communion ( osmose entre Led Zep et Deep Purple). Ceci dit je te rassure, grace à ta radio, j'ai pu écouter ou apprécier certaines musiques de groupes parfois inconnus pour moi, c'est donc que tu es vraiment d'utilité publique. Je comprends bien John, et c'est bien normal que toi comme tous ceux de ta génération soyez marqué par les 70's, et moi qui suis un peu plus jeune que vous par les 80's.
C'est clair que je ne suis pas tendre avec les 70's, mais comme le laisse entendre Queeny, avec le matos d'aujourd'hui les titres auraient une autre allure. C'est là que je me dis qu'Hendrix est hors norme et bien le plus grand, car c'est le seul qui me bote le cul de cette époque.

j'ai souvent du mal avec le son
mais il y a certains groupes que j'aime bien
et pour kansas,je connais très peu,à part biensur le mega tube"dust in the wind" et l'album "power"
qui lui date des années 80
mais sans tous ces groupes,il n'y aurait pas notre musique qu'on aime
c'est pour ça que défois,il faut se replonger dans les racines de notre musique

Tiens c'est marrant tu cites Maiden que j'ai souvent classé dans le hard rock ringard. Mais je comprends ton point de vue, des fois j'ai du mal avec certaines productions des années 70 alors que des groupes comme Led Zep ou Uriah Heep ça tient parfois la route.

Nouvelles ré éditions avec au programme Dokken, Tommy Shaw, Kerry Livgren et Speedway Boulevard :
Dokken a été formé autour de 1976, Don Dokken fait équipe avec Greg Pecka ( batterie ) et Steven R. Barry (basse) . Avant Don avait joué dans la région de Los Angeles sous le nom " Airborn " , mais a dû changer le nom du groupe car un autre groupe avait le même nom . En 1981, Don Dokken s'est envolé pour l'Allemagne pour chanter les chœurs sur l'album de Scorpions Blackout afin d'aider le chanteur du groupe Klaus Meine , qui souffrait d'une maladie vocale . Son directeur a réussi à obtenir un accord avec Carrere Records. Breaking The Chains' est sorti, mais peu de temps après Don a rencontré George Lynch et Mick Brown , qui jouaient dans un groupe appelé Xciter à l'époque.
Avec l'ajout de Juan Croucier , Dokken avait enfin un line-up stable . Pendant ce temps aux États-Unis , Cliff Bernstein signait le groupe aux États-Unis . Le groupe a fait une tournée des arènes aux États-Unis en ouvrant pour Blue Öyster Cult en 1983.
Alors que le groupe était très populaire en Europe au cours de cette période, ils n'avaient pas encore fait des progrès commerciaux aux États-Unis .
Juan Croucier quitte Dokken en 1983 , juste avant la sortie de la vidéo Breaking The Chains pour rejoindre Ratt . Il a été remplacé par Jeff Pilson , qui les a rejoint pour filmer la vidéo ( sans avoir joué la chanson ) . L'album Tooth and Nail sort le 13 Septembre 1984. L'album contient plusieurs chansons à succès dont " Just Got Lucky" , " Alone Again " et " Into The Fire " , et s'est vendu à plus d'un million d'exemplaires dans le seul territoire américain , avec un pic en n ° 49 , tout en vendant encore environ un million de copies dans le monde entier .
Le 9 Novembre , 1985 le troisième album sort . Il s'est également vendu plus d'un million d'exemplaires avec les singles " In My Dreams " ( N ° 24 ) , " The Hunter " ( N ° 25 ) et «It's Not Love" . [ 4 ] Pendant ce temps, Dokken a ouvert pour Judas Priest , AC / DC , Aerosmith , et Dio , entre autres.

Speedway Boulevard 'S/T' CANDY206 / Whichever way you shake a stick at it, the lone album from studio creation Speedway Blvd is arguably one of the greatest hard rock albums that has ever been released. In a fair world this record would have gone on to sell several million copies propelling the band to international fame and fortune. As it happened, despite being signed to a major label, the record came and went in the blink of an eye with barely any acknowledgement of its existence. There's an interesting story here too. The project was initially envisioned as a studio creation by the legendary bubblegum production duo of Kasenetz and Katz. By the mid-seventies they had turned their attention to hard rock, creating in-house studio band Ram Jam and securing a massive international hit single with the track 'Black Betty'. With strong ties at Epic records the production duo gathered another cabal of New York musicians together to form Speedway Blvd. The focus was on lean and mean hard rock, with strong melodies and the killer voice of vocalist Roy Herring Jr. The unit also included future Balance bassist Dennis Feldman and Dream Theater keyboard player Jordan Rudess. Originally issued in 1980, because the album bombed it received little exposure and even less publicity. The band never played live and, in effect, never really consummated their studio gestation beyond these ten songs. Songs (all written by the band) which include the bombastic stadium rock of '(Call My Name) Rock Magic', 'Out Of The Fire' and the zeppelin influenced title track; all killer and no filler.

Surtout à combien d'exemplaires est pressé un album +/- méconnu.
Et effectivement, la réédition d'albums déjà disponibles est une manière de s'assurer des revenus. S'ils comptent uniquement sur leurs vieilleries inconnues du grand public, ils n'iront pas loin... C'est un marché de niche, certes, mais un marché qui ne peut se reposer uniquement sur l'effet de rareté ;)

Entièrement d'accord avec toi, quand j'ai fait cette remarque, ce n'etait surtout pas un reproche mais une explication plausible.
On le comprend d'autant mieux en regardant les stats du forum, les groupes qui font le plus de buzz sont les têtes d'affiches, la rubrique nouveau groupe cartonne nettement moins ! Donc les labels sont obligés de s'adapter au public, on ne peut pas leur reprocher, surtout si en parallèle, comme rock candy, ils s’intéressent aussi aux plus obscurs ...

ils vont les vendre à combien leurs DOKKEN, 15/20 euros quand tu peux trouver les pressages originaux à 5 euros voir moins sur Amazon :question:
ils ont interet à enfummer les gens avec leurs histoires de remasterisation et autres livrets gonflés à bloc pour faire avaler la pillule à ceux qui veulent se les procurer, parce que ceux qui maitrisent un peu le business du net avec Amazon, price minister, ebay etc , auront vite faite de faire des économies en évitant ce piège là.

Salut Steph' ;), c'est la pochette du pressage allemand du vinyle de chez Atlantic (elle est néanmoins à l'intérieur du CD de chez Wounded Bird records genre double pochette qu'on peut alterner selon son envie)
les 2 premiers étaient sortis qu'en vinyle jusqu'à ce que WOUNDED BIRD les réédite y a à peu près 10 ans de cela
sinon ils existaient juste en vinyle chez Atlantic, à moins qu'on me prouve le contraire, jamais vu le CD de chez Atlantic pour les 2 premiers (le "st" et "beyond the pale")
j'ai les vinyles "Atlantic" et les versions CD "wounded bird records" donc je ferai l'impasse sur les pressages ROCK CANDY RECORDS, mais si certains les achètent, si ils peuvent venir décrire les livrets ou mieux les scanner , ça serait sympa et cool , merci :beer:
