The Pulse of Radio reports that ALICE IN CHAINS is finally working on music for its first all-new studio effort since 1995's self-titled third album. Guitarist Jerry Cantrell confirmed that he, bassist Mike Inez, drummer Sean Kinney and new singer William DuVall have been writing songs for months, but told The Pulse of Radio they're not rushing to start recording. "We've been working about the last four months, and there's a good bulk of music and a good body of work so far, and we're having fun, and you know, we're taking our time and trying to figure out where William fits in and where we need to step up, and I have all the confidence in the world in the guys," he said. "The most important thing to me is that we're all together and, you know, it's been a tough and painful experience at times, but it's been very rewarding at the same time."

ALICE IN CHAINS has tentative plans to release a new album by the end of this year, although the group has not begun recording or selected a producer.

ALICE IN CHAINS officially regrouped in early 2006 after a 10-year absence with DuVall stepping in for late frontman Layne Staley, who died in 2002.

The group did its own headlining tour in the summer and fall of 2006, followed by a 2007 co-headlining jaunt with VELVET REVOLVER.

Cantrell said he doesn't expect ALICE IN CHAINS to play live in 2008 unless a special event comes up or until there is a new album to promote.

Merci pour la video : dur de voir le nouveau chanteur à la place de Layne...
Je suis impatiente d'écouter leur prochain album même si c'est pas évident pour eux.

et en attendant le prochain album voici une video du groupe reprenant Kashmir de Led Zep :

ALICE IN CHAINS played at halftime during the Seattle Seahawks 33-30 overtime loss last Sunday (September 14) to the San Francisco 49ers at Seattle's Qwest Field. The 12-minute performance in front of 67,000 people featured a cover version of LED ZEPPELIN's "Kashmir" accompanied by the Northwest Symphony Orchestra.

Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be viewed below.

ALICE IN CHAINS will enter the studio in October to begin recording its first all-new studio album since 1995. An online post by "The Baldy", who travels with the band to shoot video and photos for their web site, read, "The guys gathered in a rehearsal studio in North Hollywood for the last few days of July and the first few days of August, and began running through the new material and shaking off the rust. After four days of going through the songs alone, the producer for the upcoming record joined the guys and they spent another three days polishing and spit-shining the songs together. A lot was accomplished in that week, and everyone is eager to move forward."

There's no word yet on who is producing the album, nor is there any information about a possible release date or label.

The new disc will mark the recording debut with ALICE IN CHAINS of frontman William DuVall, who has been singing with the group since they officially reunited in 2006. Original vocalist Layne Staley died in April 2002.

ALICE IN CHAINS has mostly stayed off the road since last year, but will play at a radio station festival in Peoria, Arizona on September 20 before commencing a few more days of pre-production and then recording.

Grammy Award-winning bassist Mike Inez has played for ALICE IN CHAINS, OZZY OSBOURNE, HEART, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and SLASH'S SNAKEPIT. His hard-driving melodic style has made him an instrumental player on today's music scene.

In his IMV "Behind the Player" DVD, Inez gives in-depth lessons for how to play "A Little Bitter" and "Again" by ALICE IN CHAINS on bass and jams the tracks with THE CULT/ex-WHITE ZOMBIE drummer John Tempesta.

"Video Tab" shows exactly how Inez plays the two tracks. The video-game-style animated tablature is similar to Guitar Hero, but shows how to play the tracks for real.

Get your copy at Guitar Center or www.IMVdvd.com.

The producers of the IMV series donate $.25 from the sale of each DVD to Little Kids Rock, an organization that gets instruments in the hands of underprivileged kids.

The fourth in a series of video clips featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the recording sessions for the new ALICE IN CHAINS album can be viewed below.

Jerry Cantrell (vocals, lead guitar), Mike Inez (bass), Sean Kinney (drums) and William DuVall (vocals, guitar) are hunkered down in a Los Angeles studio crafting their latest opus. Produced by Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, RUSH, STONE SOUR, TRIVIUM, SHADOWS FALL, DEATH ANGEL), the album promises to be a sonic journey guided by eerily psychedelic solos, and unforgettable riffs.

ALICE IN CHAINS' manager, David Benveniste (Beno) of Velvet Hammer Music and Management Group, previously stated, "Our collective vision is to extend ALICE IN CHAINS into phase two of their career worldwide. They have tremendous heritage, having sold some 15 million records, and an amazing repertoire of new material that they've written. Most importantly, ALICE IN CHAINS will be on the road in 2009 bringing new music to fans everywhere."

The new disc will mark the recording debut with ALICE IN CHAINS of frontman William DuVall, who has been singing with the group since they officially reunited in 2006. Original vocalist Layne Staley died in April 2002.

ALICE IN CHAINS will kick off 2009 with a main-stage slot on Australia's Soundwave Festival (February 21 - March 1) alongside such acts as NINE INCH NAILS, LAMB OF GOD, ALKALINE TRIO, THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS and more.
